Of Ideologies and Emotions - Part two

2016 had yet another swing to take at us, I hope it is the last. George Michael, Leonard Cohen, Prince, David Bowie, Greg Lake, Keith Emerson, Maurice White and Glenn Frey constitute perhaps the better known of the many artists the world has lost this year.

Their collective contribution to the world of music is immeasurable. We each have our intimate memories of time spent getting to know their music and significant instances in our life that were punctuated with their music. I think we've read enough of these on Facebook this year so I won't bore you with mine, but they've each left a legacy of music which will survive the test of time, they are as immortal as a human being can be.

Then there is balance, as unfortunate it is to lose a great thinker/artist/creator, there are others being born every minute. Some of these kids are unbelievable, it feels they started from where the last geniuses left off and have had an extra 6 decades of education hidden somewhere.

One of the finest examples of this level of genius in music is a young man who goes by Joey Alexander. Checking his music out on YouTube will make you very happy, I promise!

I only took his name because he is an extreme example, the best of the best. But over the last year I have had the opportunity to meet extraordinary young musicians from our country who are brilliant. Though I don't like the classification of these musicians to be limited by label of where they come from, but the fact is that it's impressive how much they've learnt, grown and assimilated in a country that genuinely offers very little in the way of opportunity and infrastructure for learning a performing art and making a career in it, specially if the art is any form of non-commercial (read Bollywood) music.

We've had a lot of ideas over the last year that we haven't yet been able to implement. Though I know the air pollution levels, the ATM lines, the extremists, the existence of stupidity, corruption, incompetence, greed, violence and all these disasters that we inflict upon ourselves will be exactly the same on the 1st of January 2017 as they are today, please please please make a small resolve to make the world around you better. Every little bit counts.

We recently started a Sunday Brunch and it was packed at Christmas yesterday. The menu is different from our usual fare, and Chef Manoj is really a wizard. Next week it falls on the 1st of Jan, and it would be an honor for us if you started the New Years with us. New Years brunch will come with lots of Cold Press juices (spiked with gin of course), a fabulous barbeque and some surprises that we're working on, come, we guarantee a wonderful afternoon and a great start to the new year!

A very drunk gentleman from our Christmas brunch yesterday, who was highly appreciative of what we do, very bluntly told me that only a few people get the opportunity to make a difference and that I needed to do more. And that I will. With your love and support, lets fix the mistakes we made in 2016 in the coming year to create room to make more mistakes in 2017 :)

    With love,
Wishing you all a very very happy new year,
    Don't drink and drive
    Arjun

P.S. A big thank you to the team at TPM for making this more than just a bar or a restaurant. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
