Sol Sundae - Stripped

Sol Sundae is a multi-genre music project from India. It was formed as a lockdown project in 2020 and draws inspiration from Soul, RnB, Hip-hop and African American Gospel Music . The project is currently working on their first EP.

Soma started the multi-genre music project Sol Sundae in India amid the 2020 Covid lockdown. As a singer and songwriter, his music is a vibrant fusion of Soul, RnB, Hip-hop, and African American Gospel, reflecting a diverse palette of musical influences. 

 

Akhilesh Khandelwal is a multifaceted musician who excels as a producer, composer, music teacher, and virtuosic keyboard player. With over a decade of experience, he has collaborated with prominent figures across various music genres including progressive rock, metal, hip hop, and Bollywood. His musical style is influenced by a blend of Hip Hop, Electronic, Progressive Rock, R&B, Funk, and Neo Soul, drawing inspiration from notable artists like Kaytranada, Jordan Rudess, Robert Glasper, Chris 'Daddy' Dave, and Jojo Mayer. Recently, Akhilesh has focused on arranging and performing music for the pop superstar King and other acts such as Be Right Back, The Storyteller and Sol Sundae.

 

Tanisha Bhatnagar is a bass guitarist and backing vocalist who has been working as a session player since April 2022. After spending her first few months learning the instrument at the Blue Notes School of Music Ensemble under Pranai Gurung and currently being under the tutelage of Tom Kennedy (acoustic and electric bass player). 

She has performed with vocalist Sentirenla Lucia as a backing vocalist and bassist, the ‘Learning Together’ collective (featuring Abhay Sharma, Aditya Bhagavatula and Rythem Bansal), the Karan Mahajan Band at the Mahindra Blues Festival of 2023, The 909’s, and performs with her own Soul/RnB project called ‘Soul Philosophy’ which features Vrnda Dhar of ‘The Revisit Project’ on lead vocals.

Sarthak Bhayana is a drummer and composer from Delhi, India. He has studied with Raghav Sehgal, Kunal Netrapal and is currently pursuing rhythm studies with Kartikeya Srivastava, an alumnus of the Berklee College of Music. Sarthak has been playing drums with various bands from Delhi such as Play It By Ear, Raftaar, Rashmeet Kaur, and Chizai. He attended the foundation course in music performance at Blue Notes, he aspires to continue his journey into improvisational music.

Shubhanshu is one of the finest session guitar players in Delhi with influences ranging from Guthrie Govan, Eddie Van Halen to Tom Misch and John Mayer. Shubhanshu has been a session guitarist for the Pop superstar King and renowned bands like Nasha, The Copycats, Daastaan Live, Noor, The Classic Collective and many other acts from New Delhi. He has been playing professionally for about 10 years and has also taught Guitar at Musictek, Gurgaon for 5 years. Subhanshu is fluent in genres like Funk, Soul, Rock, Fusion, Blues and Jazz and he continues his pursuit of evolving and adding more styles and genres into his playing.

Danik Ghosh is a musician with a solid foundation as a bass player. He experiments with soundscapes beyond the sonic limitations of the instrument using pedals and effects. He currently plays bass guitar for the Pop sensation King and has toured with Independent Rock legends as well as Hindustani Classical maestros, Danik has fulfilled many roles for various artists on stage and in the studio. With roots in Rock and Funk music, he has a unique sense of sound and rhythm. This is further augmented by a simple yet distinct melodic element which is easily identifiable in his performances.

 

Donny is a virtuoso electric R&B guitarist known for seamlessly blending Mateus Asato-style licks with smooth, clean tones that captivate listeners. With a distinct fusion of technical prowess and soulful expression, he crafts melodies that transcend genres, effortlessly navigating between intricate riffs and emotive phrasing. Donny’s playing resonates with listeners, evoking a sense of nostalgia while pushing the boundaries of contemporary R&B. Whether on stage or in the studio, he continues to redefine the electric guitar landscape, leaving an indelible mark on the music with each electrifying performance.

 

Priyansh Jindal is a 19 year old trumpeter based in New Delhi. He joined his school's marching band at the age of 15 and eventually fell in love with the instrument. Now, he plays with The Guy Velvet Group, The Revisit Project and the Princely States Dub Orchestra. Inspired by legends like Roy Hargrove and Miles Davis, Priyansh remains humble and eager to learn.

 

Dhruv Chandra is a self-taught guitarist from New Delhi, inspired by the styles of John Mayer, Robben Ford, BB King, Manuel Gardner Fernandez, and Lukas Nelson.
